Are Anti Wrinkle Injections Worth It?

We all need a little touch-up now and then, whether it’s tightening the skin, addressing lines and wrinkles or achieving a whiter smile. Today, our experts are looking at one of the facial aesthetics treatments on offer at Woodcroft Dental Clinic in Midhurst, West Sussex: anti-wrinkle injections. Are they painful? Do they last long? And are they ultimately worth it? Find out in today’s blog post.

What exactly are anti-wrinkle injections?

You probably know them better by the brand name ‘Botox’. They work by injecting targeted muscle groups that, through movement, create wrinkles in the skin. By reducing movement of these muscle groups, lines can appear softer – and treatment can also delay new wrinkles from developing.

What’s the science behind anti-wrinkle injections?

The treatment targets the muscles through the use of a special toxin, which actually has a paralysing action. Don’t worry – when used cosmetically, only a tiny amount is injected into the skin, which means that movement is reduced rather than frozen.

How painful is treatment?

We know that needles can seem a bit scary, and some can find them painful. That’s why we use extremely fine needles in our treatment, and we can also administer a numbing agent to reduce sensation at the same time. Of course, as with any injection, there’s a chance your skin might feel red and sore afterwards – but through our expert aftercare advice, you can prevent (or reduce) side effects like swelling and bruising.

How long do results last?

With anti-wrinkle injections, results develop in a matter of weeks, and typically last 3-4 months. However, everyone is different. We’d advise booking a follow-up around the 3-month mark to plan for when you might need a top-up.

Is treatment pricey?

No, we think it offers great value for money – especially because you get the assurance of an expert team, a safe and sterile clinic and detailed aftercare to maintain and prolong results. It’s also far less risky than surgery – and you can change how much you have in future (and how often) to suit your skin’s needs. It’s beauty without commitment, in other words!
